Getting Ready

Spring is here and with a month to go before this great adventure starts, we are busy with final preparations.  Independence is fully recovered from her lighting strike last July and in addition to a variety of repairs, she has gained all new electronics and Sparkler (her dinghy) has been loaded in place.  Ken has been cleaning, waxing, testing, checking and double checking everything possible.  We plan to take her to Smithfield the weekend of April 7th for her final shake down and of course, attend the wine festival.  Since we will be attending the Spring American Great Loop Cruisers Association Rendezvous the last week in April, our goal is to be provisioned and ready by April 23rd. 

Once we return, our Monday, May 1st, departure date will be right around the corner.  My goal is to update the blog on a regular basis, with regular to be defined.  :)  Looking forward to sharing our adventures and hearing from you as we move along.

P.S. From Roofus.  Though I do not share Mom and Dad's same enthusiasm, I will be happy as long as we are together, I get fed on time and can bark at anything I want, for as long as I want.
